Welcome
The first few minutes on our campus can be critical. They serve as an introduction to the day’s worship. Acting as greeters, assisting with parking, working at the Welcome Center, and being an usher all are areas of service that can express the love of Christ to someone. If you desire to use your gifts in this area please email Jimbo Tucker or call 802-7070.
Prayer Ministry
Prayer is a vital part of ministry at MBCC – it is integral to everything we do. We desire that every area of our church be bathed in prayer. From church decisions to the needs of our congregation, it is our obligation and joy to present these requests to our Heavenly Father. In an effort to more fully minister to our MBCC Family, we have formed a church wide email prayer group. This is activated for emergency needs for our members and their families. We need “pray-ers” who will commit to pray daily until the emergency has passed, and who will check their email at least daily. Each "pray-er" will be contacted individually by email. Call Lauren Reif at 802-7070 or email laurenr@mbcc.us to become a part of the group of "pray-ers".
Special Events
MBCC has a need for people who care about showing the love of Christ to others through planning and serving at various Church events. We would also love to have photographers to record these events in a pictorial history of MBCC. If you have a desire to use your gifts in the area of planning, serving/caring or photography, please email Lauren Reif or call 802-7070.
Worship Ministry
Worship is more than a time when the church gathers together on Sunday. God has always intended it to be our entire lifestyle. God is constantly revealing Himself to us, and we worship Him in how we respond. So when we gather on Sundays we want our times of worship as a church family to meaningfully reflect the lives of worship we live throughout the week. Blending music, message, giving, reading Scripture, and other elements, we seek to guide the church into worshipping the Father in Spirit and in Truth.
Our services are reverent, innovative, sensitive, and creative. We want to celebrate God’s presence each time we meet. We design our services from a fresh, contemporary approach. We want these times to be participatory, involving each person as an active worshipper. “God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and in truth.” (John 4:24) If you are interested in being involved in the Worship Ministry, please email Jacquie Long or call 802-7070.
Some of the Worship Ministry current needs/opportunities include:
Adult Choir: Open to anyone 9th grade or older - No audition.
Worship Team: Technical - Sound operators, PC operators (projection), and lights/camera operators (degree of skill & experience required varies from none to significant)
Worship Team: Band - People skilled in keyboards/B3 organ/strings; violin and/or cello; drums and/or percussion. Audition/Interview required.
Worship Team: Vocals. Audition/Interview required.
Family Ministry
The Family Ministry of MBCC has several goals. First, to provide encouragement to husbands and wives, and parents of infants through teens, to challenge and spur them on to develop these God-given relationships. Second, to provide equipping of parents, so they can learn Biblical foundations for the relationships within the home. And third, to provide environments (events) where these relationships can be nurtured and developed. In addition to classes offered on Wednesday nights during our fall and spring programming, the family ministry also hosts our bi-annual family retreat, HomeStead. Email Mark Yoder or call 802-7070.
Nursery Ministry
We believe each child is a special gift from God, so we want to provide the best care possible beginning from birth. Realizing that the church nursery is often the first place a child is cared for away from the home, our purpose is to provide a clean and safe environment where each child receives loving care from well-trained Nursery Associates assisted by church volunteers. Our Nursery Department cares for children from birth through pre-school. The nursery is open on Sunday mornings from 8:15 until after the Worship Service. It is also open through the week as a support for various ministries. Email Caroline Daniel or call 314-5926 for more information about being a teacher, monthly volunteer or substitute.
Youth Ministry
The Youth Ministry at MBCC exists to develop teenagers into fully-devoted followers of Jesus Christ. We hope to do this by creating atmospheres where students are encouraged to live with passion, purpose, conviction, and joy. In pursuit of this goal, we participate in weekly events, small groups (Huddles), retreats, and mission trips. Wherever they are in their personal journey, we are here to help junior and senior high students take the next step in following Jesus.
Our Sunday morning time is called City Gates Café, in which we teach Biblical principles. We walk through a 6-year curriculum which was developed here. Through that we are trying to instruct our youth in a wide range of theological topics and teach with the full breadth of Scripture. We teach in an open and relaxed environment. Join us this Sunday at 9:45 am.
Sunday Nites from 6:30-7:45 is a time for all of our youth. 7th & 8th graders enjoy a night of games, music, and hanging out with friends followed by a time of teaching. This is a great time to invite a friend. For Senior high students, Sunday Nites are built around worship and in-depth Bible study. It is our hope that this will be a time to find rest and repair as God prepares us for the adventures ahead. Join us for snack supper at 6:00.
Huddle Groups are the youth ministry’s version of small groups. Four to ten students meet regularly with a leader to build consistency, durability, accountability, and community into their spiritual lives. These groups are all-guy or all-girl groups and ask for a high-level of commitment. Be sure your youth are plugged in! Email Mark Williams or call 802-7070.
College Ministry
University Christian Fellowship (UCF) exists to raise up a generation to see and savor the sovereignty and supremacy of Christ. Our Wednesday night service consists of the Word, worship, and prayer. For more information, please visit the UCF website at www.ucfbirmingham.org, or contact Andy Byers at busby@ucfbirmingham.org or Sarah Holsombeck at sarah@ucfbirmingham.org.
Wednesday Nights:
Beginning at 8:30 in the Chapel, we gather for worship, teaching, prayer, and fellowship. We also monthly partake in the Lord’s Supper together. Students are invited to come early each week for prayer time at 7:45. During the summer we meet Wednesday nights at 8:00 pm at the UCF House.
UCF House:
Throughout the week, UCF has a number of small groups of 6-12 students meeting at the UCF House and throughout Birmingham for prayer, fellowship, encouragement, and study. Events outside of our Wednesday meetings, such as concerts, potluck dinners, etc., are held at the UCF House. This facility is also open to students day and night to do laundry, study, utilize the prayer room, cook a meal, or fellowship with friends.
Men's Ministry
Being men of God does not come easily. We realize this and strive to help men persevere in their journey with Christ. We do this through our Wednesday breakfast meetings, small groups that meet throughout the week, our annual Men’s Retreat, and additional events. It is our goal to be like the Men of Issachar who understood their times and knew what they should do (1 Chronicles 12:32.) Join us at our next event as we live the adventure of becoming men of God. Please contact Cam Colvert at 871-9331 or cam@mapdevelopment.org if you would like to get involved in the Men’s Ministry.
Men’s Wednesday Morning Bible Study – This morning Bible Study for men is held on Wednesday mornings at 6:00 with breakfast served. Be on the look out for more details about the fall series that will begin in September.
Annual Spring Golf Tournament – Each May, the Men of Issachar host a great day of fun, fellowship, food and golf. Watch for more details on this exciting event.

Women's Ministry
The Women's Ministry of MBCC seeks to develop unity in fellowship and encouragement among women by prayer, teaching Biblical principles, serving others and encouraging one another in a deeper walk with our Lord, Jesus Christ. As we grow in our love and devotion to the Lord, we also seek to be the hands and feet of Christ to those in need in our community. Please contact Bronwyn Cardwell at bronwyncardwell@gmail.com if you would like to be involved in the Women's Ministry.

Missions
Global - We need strategic partners to help us realize our vision and obediently fulfill the call to “make disciples of all nations.” With that in mind, our Global Missions Team is carefully selecting a very qualified family of missions and missionaries around the world. We not only contribute toward their financial support but encourage our congregation to support them in frequent prayer. To improve your awareness of our Missions’ family, we invite you to visit the Missions display board in our hallway, then we invite you to share our burden for a lost world by joining us in prayer for our missionaries and for the people to whom they are ministering. If you have an interest in world missions, please contact Gary Key at gkey@wmbird.com.
Local -The Local Missions team oversees our participation in various ministries in the Birmingham metro area, the state of Alabama, and neighboring states. It also identifies and selects qualified local and regional Christian ministries to partner with through prayer and financial support. While the Local Missions team may emphasize work projects and Christian service, its ultimate purpose is to present the gospel to those who are in need of a Savior. Having an irresistible influence in our community and state will allow us to contribute to the fulfillment of the Great Commission and to live out the Gospel. Please contact Brad Anderson at brad.and.barbie@gmail.com with any questions concerning Local Missions. Click here to see current opportunities to serve with our Local Mission Partners
Short Term Mission Trips -Through short term mission trips we have the opportunity to impact people we may otherwise never meet, in places we may otherwise never go, for the glory of God. Our goal in sending STMTs is to obey our calling to the Great Commission, grow our people, and encourage our missionaries. Therefore our current plan is to partner with a small group of like-minded ministries and make lasting investments in those ministries by sending teams to serve with them on a continual basis. We hope you will consider participating in one of our teams by going on a short term trip, giving resources to a team who is going, and/or praying for our teams as they go. For more information on short term mission trips, please contact Jimbo Tucker at jimbot@mbcc.us.
Facility
