Hey all!
This past week has been very successful for the Sturdivant family! We are slowly but surely making a lot of progress on the home and in their hearts. The whole family seems to be doing much better. On Saturday we had groups from Mountain Brook Community Church and Oak Mountain Presbyterian. Most of the installments have benn delivered and just need to be installed (new handicap shower, lights and fans, etc.)
Some of you had expressed to me your concern about pest control in the home. Barbara Cartledge contacted Cook's Pest Control on our behalf and they have graciously donated a year's worth of pest control and upkeep! They came by last Tuesday and will come again in about a month. It is so wonderful to see God making these miracles happen each and every day. Please continue to pray for the improvements in this home.
Thank you and God Bless!

Last saturday was an incredibly successful work day! We were blessed to have another large turnout and we able to put everyone to work! the house is really coming along and there is a noticable difference in Mrs. Sturdivants attitude. She seems more hopeful, cheerful, stressfree. You are all helping this family and community so much in more ways than you can imagine!
Twin construction has donated stuff for the framing of Robby's and Chris's rooms. Also, the flooring and installation of the flooring has been donated as well! Two of the rooms have been sponsored already and we need individuals or groups to help sponsor the remaining 6 rooms. It will cost approximately $1000/room. There is also a need for drywall and framing help. This week we will also be putting in a new water line.
A huuuge thanks to Mountain Brook Community Church... your 25 volunteers last week were sooo helpful!
Chris has been making so much progress! He is getting out of the house regularly now and is helping on saturdays when we come. He helped clean up the back yard, he helped paint, and he even went around looking for a football to play with one of the volunteers! It seems that he is understanding more and he is trying to say things. Overall, he seems to be getting stronger and healthier. We are improving his quality of life greatly, and that is enough to satisfy me!
The following is a testimony from one of my great friends and a volunteer for the grace makeover, Andy Ard.
What first interested me in the Sturdivant renovation was helping re-build a home for someone who needed it. I came a few Saturdays to help clean the kitchen, do laundry, and clean the house. Last Saturday over 30 volunteers were in and around the home painting, installing siding, doing lawn work, and even sitting with the family to chat. As the sun shone down on all of these workers (men, women, youth, adults, youth groups, plumbers, college students, community helpers...) I saw how these people, all at a different place in life, all at varying steps in their spiritual journeys, were brought together by God to change the lives of the Sturdivant family members and the community around them. I left wondering how someone could witness the work being done in the home and not see God in it all. My family has been greatly blessed, and this experience with Mission Birmingham has opened my eyes to the world around me and called me to serve my brothers and sisters in Christ with what I have been given.
"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace" 1 Peter 4:10
Thank you all so much for your prayers, time, and love for the family. you are truly all a blessing to the family and the community!
